Updated 30 October 2026. Draft for review by counsel.
Privacy policy
What this site collects, which is very little, and what happens to it.
This is a plain-language draft prepared for review by qualified counsel. It is not yet reviewed and it is not legal advice. It describes what the site does today, and it will be updated before any new feature collects anything.
The short version
This site is a collection of fiction and documents. It has no accounts, no comments, no tracking cookies, and no advertising. Today it collects one thing on purpose, and only if you choose to give it: an email address, if and when the newsletter signup is connected. Until that signup exists, the site collects nothing from you deliberately.
What is collected and why
Email address, for the newsletter. When the signup form is live, entering your email and ticking the consent box sends your address, the fact that you consented, and the time to the newsletter provider we use, so that we can send you transmissions by email. We will name the provider on this page when it is chosen. We use double opt-in where the provider supports it, which means you confirm by email before you receive anything. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is immediate.
Server logs. Like every website, the hosting provider records technical information when a page is requested: the address of the requesting device, the page requested, the time, and the browser type. These logs are used for security and to keep the site working. They are kept for the hosting provider's standard period and are not used to identify or profile visitors. We will name the hosting provider here before launch.
Nothing else. No analytics cookies, no advertising networks, no social media trackers, no fingerprinting. If we ever add privacy-respecting aggregate analytics, this page will say so first, and it will not identify individuals.
What is not collected
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The site is written for adults. We do not buy, rent, or share email lists. We do not sell personal information. We never share the newsletter list with any other business, including any future separately licensed business connected to the project.
Where it goes
Your email address goes to the newsletter provider, which processes it on our behalf under its own terms and a data processing agreement. Server logs stay with the hosting provider. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
How long it is kept
Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and then it is removed from the active list. Server logs are kept for the hosting provider's standard retention period.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to the contact address on the About page when it exists; until then, through the Instagram account named on that page. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Future features
Interactive conversations with characters are planned for a later stage and are not built. If and when they exist, this page will describe exactly what is kept (we currently plan: transcripts for no more than thirty days, for safety review only, with no training on them and no personal data requested), and you will be told before you start a conversation.
Changes
When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to what is collected will be announced on the site before they take effect.
Contact
A contact address will be published on the About page. Until then, questions can be sent through the Instagram account, Botanical Intelligence AI.
